World Cup of Men’s Hockey: 2010 New Delhi: Feb 28 – Mar 13
It’s going on as we speak, having started February 28th and running through March 13: the 2010 World Cup of Men’s Hockey.
Taking place at the Dhyan Chand Stadium in New Delhi, the 2010 Men’s Hockey World Cup is sponsored by Hero Honda and the International Federation of Hockey (FIH). There are 12 teams competing in all in the 2010 World Cup of Men’s Hockey, divided into two pools. Pool A are: Argentina, Canada, Germany, Korea, Netherlands, New Zealand. Pool B are: Australia, England, India, Pakistan, South Africa, and Spain.
In the early events, England beat Australia, 3 to 2, and India beat Pakistan, 4 to 1.
The following are the remaining matches taking place this week.
Today, March 3, are the matches: A Canada vs. Germany, A Argentina vs. Korea, and A New Zealand vs. The Netherlands.
Tomorrow, Thursday March 4 are: B South Africa vs. Australia, B England vs. Pakistan, and B India vs. Spain.
Friday, March 5 sees: A Korea vs. New Zealand, A Netherlands vs. Canada, and A Germany vs. Argentina.
Saturday, March 6: B Australia vs. Spain, B South Africa vs. Pakistan, and B India vs. England. And Sunday March 7: A Korea vs. Canada, A New Zealand vs. Argentina, and A Germany vs. Netherlands.
In all there will be 38 matches in the Hero Honda FIH World Cup of Men’s Hockey. Stay tuned here for the continuing schedule of events as the competition progresses.
Germany is the reigning World Cup of Men’s Hockey champions, for the second year in a row. A win this year would make them the only team ever to win three consecutive Men’s Hockey World Cup trophies.
