Super Bowl XLIV Early Betting
The 2010 playoffs are over and football fans await the kickoff of the 2010 Super Bowl, just two Sundays from now. Facing off will be the Indianapolis Colts and the New Orleans Saints. Super Bowl XLIV makes the first these two teams have met on the Super Bowl field in seventeen years.
The Indianapolis Colts has a 10-5-1 ATS (14-2) season, which was the league’s best this season. But that isn’t really saying very much as the league generally underperformed this year. Just look at how the Colts pulled their starter players and punted for both of the final two games for fear of a last minute injury in a season they went undefeated. Not very encouraging. Not to mention how their defense has been as unstable as a reality TV star. Having said that, who wants to bet against Peyton Manning, heading up one of the league’s greatest passing offenses.
The New Orleans Saints were looking at an undefeated season too, until Dallas swept that rug out from under them in the week 15 game at the Superdome.
Odds on the game opened in favor of the Colts by nearly 3:1, except in Vegas where it all was heading to the Saints. And Indianapolis still seems to be the popular favorite. Of course a Saints money line wager could put a savvy bettor ahead of the curve come payout time, as a good ninety percent of all the early action is going in the direction anyway, giving you two for one on every ten bucks bet.
