PGA Betting: Honda Classic – Free Pick
Palm Beach Gardens, Florida is the setting for the nest stop of the PGA tour. This is the Honda Classic to be played on the Championship Course at National Resort and Spa on March 3-6, 2011. Let’s preview some of the golfers with the best odds and then give sleeper picks to help maximize your bet.
Best odds for this event go to Lee Westwood. He is at 12/1 to win. Westwood knows this course well and many feel he has the best shot at hitting tough shots on some of the disastrous holes this course produces. Graeme McDowell is well rested after his early departure at the Accenture Match Play. McDowell is 15/1 to pull off a victory.
Third best odds go to Matt Kuchar at 20/1. Kuchar is a former winner in 2002 at the Honda Classic and has played well at every stop on the tour this year. The hot golfer this week is Luke Donald from his match play last week. He enters at 15/1 and can win this if he continues his very good putting.
Lee Westwood comes in with the best odds for this tourney at 12/1. Westwood has been here before and knows how to handle this course. He is particularly tough at holes 15-16-17 which are known as the most difficult three holes together of any on the tour. Graeme McDowell hit a snag last week with an early loss in the Accenture Match Play but it also gave him some rest time. He is a good putter and hits the greens with consistency. His odds are 15/1 to win.
Matt Kuchar won this event in 2002 but he has played very well throughout the entire tour up to this point in the season. Kuchar enters with 20/1 odds to win in 2011. Luke Donald is 15/1 mainly on his success last weekend at the Accenture Match Play. If he stays hot he can be a force in this event.
Camillo Villegas won this event last year by five strokes and is listed with 50/1 odds to repeat. Some other sleeps are Brian Gay at 40/1, D.A. Points, Pebble Beach winner, at 60/1 and Vijah Singh with 25/1 odds to win in 2011.
Our Pick: Graeme McDowell at 15/1 odds
