Legendary quarterback, Brett Favre, will be turning 41 in October of this year. While this qualifies him as middle age in the real world, in the world of athletics, that’s ancient. Brett gets a bit of a pass because he is a quarterback where speed (or lack there of) and isn’t as big a deal as it is in other positions. Because he plays quarterback, he likely hasn’t taken as many hits over the years, which has helped to prolong his athletic career as well. However, at 41, he’s still no spring chicken, even at quarterback. All of this matters because the last few years, Favre has been struggling with whether or not to retire. Every time the pre-season football rolls around, Favre is indecisive about whether or not he wants to come back. The media is always there, reporting on his every move and spending hours upon hours debating about whether or not he will come back and if he even should. This year was no different. Finally, however, the waiting and watching is over. Brett has decided to give the Minnesota Vikings and his teammates one more year.

Last year was an exciting one for the Vikings. They have a nice team with a few up-and-comers who look ready to become beak out stars. The season, however, ended in a disappointing fashion, when the Vikings losing in the NFC Title game to the New Orleans Saints.

During that game, Brett injured his ankle. He underwent surgery in June to replace it. It was that surgery and an inability to rehab enough so that he would be ready for the start of the season, that led many people to believe, including Favre, that he wouldn’t return. This, however, didn’t turn out to be the case. Favre has decided to return and is currently focused on getting ready for the season.
