F1 Racing Update: Bahrain, Australia Down; Next Stop: Malaysia
The Formula 1 racing season is well underway, with two races behind us now, making for some interesting standings.
Winner of the 2010 F1 season opener in Bahrain, multi-time champion Fernando Alonso still holds the top spot, with 37 points, thanks to continued success with a fourth place finish in race 2 of the season, the March 28 Qantas Australian Grand Prix. The winner of that race, meanwhile, another former world champion Jenson Button takes the third top spot in the current overall standings, with 31 points. Sandwiched between them is Felipe Massa in second with 33 points, thanks 15 scored by taking third in Australia.
Rounding out the top Australian Grand Prix spots are second place driver Robert Kubica (6th overall) and Nico Rosberg in fifth (5th overall). Other drivers to watch as we approach race 3 of the 2010 F1 season in Malaysia include Lewis Hamilton, currently in 4th place overall.
As far as constructor standings are concerned, Ferrari currently holds the two top spots, thanks to drivers Alonso and Massa, while McLaren has Button to thank for its third place spot.
The next F1 race of the season is the Malaysian Grand Prix taking place April 4. But the full 2010 Formula 1 Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix schedule officially starts two days prior, on April 2 with 2 practice rounds and continues on April 3 with 1 more practice round and the qualifying round.
