2010 World Golf Championships Accenture Match Play Championship
The Accenture Match Play Championship is not only one of the World Golf Championship’s four events, but it is widely known to be the most prestigious of all four. It is also a key part of every year’s PGA Tour.
The Accenture Match Play Championship only attracts the best of the best of golf, with a specially select 64 player field. The 2010 Accenture Match Play Championship will take place February 15th through 21st at the Ritz Carlton Golf Club at Dove Mountain in Marana, in the southern part of Arizona. At stake: an $8,000,000 prize purse.
This year, the 64 top golfers in the world will convene on the Dove Mountain Ritz Carlton’s newest golf course, their Jack Nicklaus Signature course. This at least removes the advantage that Accenture Match Play Championship veterans familiar with the other Ritz Carlton Dove Mountain courses may otherwise have had.
The defending champ from last year is Geoff Ogilvy but interestingly enough, he is not the first seed. No, the first seed in this year’s event is Steve Stricker.
Don’t look for Tiger Woods at this year’s event, despite his 2008 Accenture Match Play Championship win. But you can keep an eye out for Kevin Na and Scott Verplank who could also do well in this tournament.
Many eyes are on the two second placing conteders from last year and the year before. That would be Paul Casey (’09) and Stewart Cink (’08).
Online sportsbetting websites are taking bets now for the the 2010 PGA Tour World Golf Championships Accenture Match Play Championship coming Feb. 15-21.
